Free Visas for Diaspora Summit Participants
Ghana has once again positioned itself as the epicenter of Pan-African unity. In a landmark announcement, the Government of Ghana has confirmed free visa entry for all participants attending the Diaspora Summit 2025 — a historic move that reinforces Ghana’s ongoing commitment to reconnecting with its global African family.
This bold step reflects the nation’s message to its diaspora: You are not visitors. You are home.
A Transformational Moment for Global Africans
The visa-free entry is more than a policy decision; it is a powerful symbol of reconnection, access, and belonging. It removes financial burdens, eases travel barriers, and sends a strong message that Ghana is intentional about building bridges with Africans worldwide.
With the diaspora recognized as Ghana’s “17th Region,” this announcement deepens the call for unity, heritage reconnection, and collaborative development.
December 18–20: A Three-Day Diaspora Experience in Accra
This major policy decision arrives just in time for a vibrant three-day lineup of diaspora-focused events — a convergence of culture, business, reconnection, and nation-building.
- December 18 — Diaspora Business Networking Mixer
Before the Summit officially kicks off, The African Diaspora Group and African Diaspora Resource Centre will host the Diaspora Business Networking Mixer, bringing together returning diaspora professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, and Ghana-based leaders.
This mixer will serve as:- A gateway to business opportunities in Ghana
- A platform to form collaborations and partnerships
- A welcoming space for Diaspora & Ghanaian entrepreneurs to build community
With a diverse group of diaspora & Ghanaian attendees across various sectors, the evening will set the tone for impactful engagement throughout the summit.

- December 19–20 — Diaspora Summit 2025
Hosted by the Office of the President & Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diaspora Summit will bring together diasporans, stakeholders, and policymakers to discuss topics of importance of the African Diaspora in Ghana.
The Summit will explore topics including:- Reparations and historical justice
- Diaspora investment and economic collaboration
- Cultural reconnection and identity restoration
- Strengthening African unity and Pan-African partnerships
Attendees from around the world are encouraged to begin their visa arrangements early, but all approved participants will enjoy visa-free entry courtesy of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Why the Visa-Free Announcement Matters
1. It lowers barriers to return
Travel should be accessible, and this initiative ensures that diasporans can participate without extra administrative or financial hurdles.
2. It signals a deeper national commitment
Ghana continues to lead Africa in welcoming its diaspora — from the Year of Return to Beyond the Return, and now this significant visa waiver.
3. It strengthens diaspora engagement, investment, and talent exchange
When diasporans feel welcomed, they invest, collaborate, and contribute more meaningfully.
